Sant Julià de Lòria, the gateway to the country
Located just 8 kilometers from the border with Spain, Sant Julià de Lòria is the parish in charge of welcoming the Principality from the neighboring country. With an average elevation of 1,000 meters altitude -the lowest of all of Andorra, Sant Julià enjoys one of the most pleasant and temperate climates throughout the Principality. Territorially, the Lauredian parish is formed by different parochial subdivisions, with Fontaneda, Bixessarri, Nagol, Certers, Auvinyà and Juberri, but also smaller municipalities such as Aixovall, Llumeneres and Aixirivall.
Tourist attractions of the Parish of St.Julià de Lòria
One of the main tourist attractions in Sant Julià de Lòria, and also throughout the country, is Naturlàndia, the adventure park of Andorra. In the historical and cultural sphere, the parish also brings together an important legacy of heritage, with a large number of centennial sources, for example the Fountain of Cóms (1866), or more current like Fountain from the square Francesc Cairat (1974).
Another remarkable aspect are the streets typical of the nineteenth century, the Church of Sant Serni de Nagol -12th century – and, of course, the Sanctuary of Canòlich, which preserves the Romanesque carving of the Virgin patron saint of the parish.
St.Julià and its culture
Culturally, the Tobacco Museum is the main attraction which houses the parish, as well as one of the main museums in the whole of the Principality.
